The point-and-click adventure genre has a glorious past behind it, thanks to memorable franchises like Day of the Tentacle and King’s Quest. However, plenty of awesome productions have been released in the last few years as well, including many of Telltale’s games, such as The Walking Dead, or even the hilarious Sam & Max series.

Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots may have a very long name, but there are many other interesting things about it. In fact, if you give it a chance and manage to get over the rather sketchy-looking graphics, you can have some fun with the puzzles and have a poke around the galaxy as well. After all, you play the role of a spaceship captain.

The story is quite convoluted and it doesn’t make complete sense the first time you hear it, but you get the overall idea anyway. As such, you are Captain Disaster, a man who’s actually nothing more than a glorified space delivery boy trying to deliver a package in a galaxy far away. Obviously, things go wrong and some kind of monsters and pirates make an appearance, which means that you must help the captain deal with them and save the galaxy.

In case you are not familiar with the genre, all you need to know is that the mouse is your best friends. Everything in the game is controlled using the mouse, and the missions themselves require you to simply click on stuck. It is obviously not as simple in practice, however, because you also have to solve the puzzles by finding the right objects and combining them in order to obtain what you need.

As previously mentioned, everything about the game is designed to look old and retro, although the creators may have exaggerated a little bit in this case. The point of retro graphics is to look old but still be artistic, but in this case it really looks like a few sketchy lines made in a basic graphic editor. The same goes for the voice acting, which is very primitive and painful to listen to.

Even if Captain Disaster in Death Has A Million Stomping Boots tries very hard to be funny and touch almost every meme and pop culture reference out there, it still fails to be amusing in most cases. However, with enough work and dedication, this can certainly turn into something good.
