If you enjoy games, that are centered around turn based combat, and if you like cartoons, then Braveland Wizard might be exactly what you’re looking for. It’s a lightweight and lighthearted game that’s more on the casual side of turn based combat, but it’s really enjoyable.

I’ve summed up a few thousand hours of Heroes of Might and Magic III in my lifetime, so far and having a crack at Braveland Wizard set off some nostalgia. I guess most games that use that brand of combat mechanics have the same effect, but it’s a good thing. The truth is, you won’t feel that way if the game you’re playing has broken combat.

However, Braveland Wizard doesn’t come close to the difficulty level of Heroes, neither do the visuals. It’s all about the core gameplay behind the fights. To put it in a simple manner, it’s something I’d casually play out of love for the turn based genre.

Unlike in Heroes, where two AI opponents at impossible rating would crush you in a few months, in Braveland Wizard you won’t feel even the slightest challenge. Anyway, that applies to those who have some experience with turn based combat. For the rest, it will give you a few moments when you’ll hold your breath, praying that the enemy misses and attack.

As for depth, Braveland Wizard has a bit of that too. There are skills to learn, units to hire, artifacts to find and equip, and there’s even a little story to keep you amused. It truly is a casual experience.

In conclusion, Braveland Wizard is a good game to have around when you’re a bit bored or in the mood for some lightweight turn based strategy. It looks cute, it plays well, and it might be enough to get your mind of your troubles.
