BlastZone 2 Demo

BlastZone 2 is a side-scrolling shooter that focuses on fast reactions. It’s built by developer Matt Edzenga and published by Black Shell Media.

As a side-scrolling shooter, BlastZone 2 sits somewhere in the middle or the pack, which means that it’s not a bad game, but it’s also not all that good either. There is a really simple explanation for this situation. The gaming world is full of 2D side scrolling shooters, and most of them are not worth the attention of the players. On the other hand, a few of those games are really good and are setting the standard for the others.

No matter how much work a single developer will put into a game, like BlastZone 2 for example, it will be almost impossible to reach the quality of some of the most famous games in this category. It’s a tough genre to approach because it’s overcrowded, but it doesn’t mean that developers and studios should try to make games.

Gameplay

If you have ever played a side-scrolling game, then you already know how to play BlastZone 2, and it’s won’t require any new skills from players. There some a couple of new things that you need to be aware off, but it’s nothing earth shattering.

Players get to control a ship that flies from left to right. All the enemies come from the front and never from the back. They leave stuff behind like health, speed, damage, and all sort of power-ups, making the life of the player much easier.

The one thing that people are sure to notice is the speed of the enemy crafts. They don’t move all that fast when you first start the game, but they soon begin to move so fast that it’s becoming a full-time job to avoid them rather than hitting them.

Fortunately, your craft has a life meter, so it will take quite a few hits to bring you down. Each level ends with a boss that’s quite predictable. The demo version only has access to a couple of levels from the Mission mode and the complete "Classic A" game mode.
