Ghosts, killers and killer ghosts make up most of the antagonists of hidden object games. However, now and again you get one in which Earth is under the threat of an alien race. Beyond: Light Advent Collector's Edition is a hidden object game in which you play the role of an astronomer who has to save Earth from an invasion, with the help of an unlikely friend.

Hidden object games mean playing the same thing over and over again, only each time, they look different, or have a slightly original story. In most cases, they resemble one another but in Beyond: Light Advent Collector's Edition things are a bit different.

Although the story is cheesy and has its moments of bad writing, it has a few elements that are rather interesting. For one, Diana’s imaginary friend from when she was a child is an alien boy who had his mind synchronized with hers, influencing her on her path to becoming an astronomer. I’ve seen a whole lot of Sci-Fi, and that idea is a pretty good one.

Other than that, the game keeps its standard form and gameplay, with a few puzzles that are new. Albeit not very tough.

Beyond: Light Advent Collector's Edition, compared to other titles from Big Fish, is on the fence between being good or bad. The story is the only thing that saves it from mediocrity but as mentioned, even that has flaws in writing and logic.

The game is what it is, a hidden object title for the casual gamer, it’s for the fans of the genre. It’s not extraordinary in any way, but there are things to like about it.
