Bathory: The Bloody Countess is a hidden object game from the vast Big Fish Games catalogue that’s different than most of the others that belong to this genre. It features hand drawn graphics and slightly modified gameplay that switches up things a bit.

The majority of hidden object game fans don’t take to kindly to changing things so the visual style of Bathory: The Bloody Countess might not seem appealing. I for one appreciate the effort of creating a game from scratch when it comes from the visuals instead of cropping stuff out from photos and doing a bad job at blending them into the environment.

As for spotting the clues and things you can interact with, it’s a bit tougher in Bathory: The Bloody Countess and that’s a good thing. Moreover, the way you find the clues, their order makes a lot more sense, and once again, it’s something to appreciate.

After playing a couple of tens of hidden object titles, you get to miss the vivid nature of some of them. While Bathory: The Bloody Countess looks nice, it’s kind of quiet and at times a bit dull. The atmosphere might have a bit of trouble keeping you connected.

It does feel slower than most hidden object games but at least it’s totally unique and not just a mere clone. Moreover, the story revolves around a historical figure and having to deal with a serial killer who allegedly bathed in the blood of her victims to become immortal is pretty interesting.

To end, Bathory: The Bloody Countess is a lot less exciting than most hidden object titles but it’s visual style and story tend to make up for that. It’s worth a try.
