Bandits: Phoenix Rising Demo

Mad Max was the kind of movie that redefined the genre and inspired many other creations throughout the years, since everyone is still aware of it even today. Naturally, it would be much more exciting if you could be a part of the action personally, in order to interact with the environment from a more personal point of view and get a taste of the action from up close.

Bandits: Phoenix Rising is a mix between action and racing, with obvious inspirations from Mad Max and similar movies. Thus, the entire action takes place in a post-apocalyptic world mostly covered in desert and scarred by constant conflict. Obviously, the survivors are split into different factions and they fight each other on a regular basis, whether for supplies, or just for territory.

In the game, you play as Rewdalf and Fennec as they try to make a name for themselves in the wasteland, by killing the other bandits and surviving a variety of other challenges. There is a plot line you must follow along the way, but the story gets pretty foggy and difficult to pinpoint after a while, since not a lot happens, except for all the encounters you must survive.

Since the entire action takes place from the backseat of a dune buggy, you must take care of your own vehicle and make it stronger with every chance you get. In essence, the upgrades provide you with additional armor, nitro, and various other special abilities. Better weapons become available as well, in order to deal more damage with every shot and quip multiple machine guns at once, if the situation requires it.

During the game, various power-ups can be picked up as well, although their usage is limited and they can only help you for a short while. You can also find ammunition and various repair kits to fix your vehicle if it needs patching up. The graphics are also quite nice and detailed, although the landscapes are a tad barren and devoid of detail in most cases, which hurts the atmosphere.

In the end, Bandits: Phoenix Rising may not be a jewel of the genre, but it is good enough to provide you with a few hours of fun. Not only that, but the adventure is unique and you have the freedom to customize your experience as you see fit.
