BLACKHOLE

BLACKHOLE is a super smooth action-adventure platformer that comes with a side of puzzle solving to ramp up the challenge factor. It sports a 2D approach and a sci-fi theme, it looks cute and cartoony, but it will require the best of you focus and platforming skills.

From a design standpoint, BLACKHOLE is great. The visual style allows you to relax, and it even adds a plus to the humorous sides of the game.

When it comes to platformers, you can’t do well without having super-well polished gameplay mechanics. In BLACKHOLE, that has been achieved. Not only does it play perfectly with a controller, the response for the character and how things fall into place make it a very enjoyable experience.

Wall climbing, switching the perspective, general environment interaction, skill use, everything gradually reinforces the feeling that this is going to be a great game. As for the plot, we won’t discuss it because its excellently presented in the trailer below.

One of the core mechanics in BLACKHOLE is the ability to rotate the level. In doing so, some areas become accessible while others not so much. It’s a simple yet very effective thing that complicates the gameplay by a good amount in a fun and challenging way.

Up becomes right, left is not down and so on. To complete a level, you need to collect samples, as part of your mission. As simple as it sounds or it might look when playing, we assure that it is not. BLACKHOLE is made to leave you scratching your head while pondering solutions on more than one occasion.

The demo might not show it so well but there’s a story to BLACKHOLE and judging by the trailer, it’s a very well-executed one. Notice the gameplay details, excellent voice acting and that terrific soundtrack. Do you even need more convincing?
