Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator Demo

In case you happen to be a Star Trek fan, then you probably thought about what it would be like to be one of the crew members serving on the spaceships pictured in the show. The fact that they are big and complicated means that more than one person needs to man the controls, especially if you also have to deal with weapons, navigation, and various other important machinery.

Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator is the type of game that won’t be very appealing to non-Star Trek fans, because it doesn’t even make too much sense if you are not a trekkie. In essence, the main idea is that you get to be a part of the crew piloting a spaceship, by managing a specific task and letting everything else in the care of the other players.

Moreover, there is also a captain to command over everyone, who gets to see an external view of the ship, but has no control over any instruments. The captain also sets the course and gives orders when it comes to dealing with enemies, whether to engage them and start a fight, or use the warp drive engines to run away and keep the crew out of danger.

The game requires a server to be played, which can be created on any computer. However, you cannot play by yourself, because the server won’t start until someone else connects to your server. A minimum of two or three other players are required in order to experience the game at its full potential, which is not that difficult to achieve anyway.

Visually, the game certainly does not impress, given the rather barren cosmos and the not very detailed spaceships you get to see or pilot, for that matter. However, the fun factor is all that matters, because being together with your friends and enjoying a Star Trek-like experience can be extremely entertaining, as long as you are a fan of science fiction.

Although it could use a lot more improvement if it is to become a must-have and a genre definer, Artemis: Spaceship Bridge Simulator already deserves your time and money. However, as previously mentioned, you need to make sure that you have someone to play it with, otherwise the experience won’t be nearly as entertaining.
