AntiSquad Demo

AntiSquad is a nice mobile game port that features a nice turn-based combat system that is used in a very good context. You’re in command of a group of mercenaries and throughout the game, you receive missions all over the world which involve taking out gangs and crime bosses.

As far as turn-based combat mechanics go, AntiSquad has some fairly complex but easy to understand ones. During combat, you need to keep track of character vision, firing range, action points, and positioning all while making sure the enemy doesn’t spot you.

At first it might seem complicated but the game comes with a short and comprehensive tutorial that makes everything clear. Also, during the tutorial, you get to see that AntiSquad has quite a bit of depth to it. You can duck for cover, use close-quarters combat, heal a fallen ally, and use all kinds of powerups.

Not only is AntiSquad fun and interesting to play, it’s also a game that looks good. The HUD gives away the fact that it’s a mobile port, but it all works as it should. There’s not much to object to from a visual point of view, except maybe for the fact that the gangsters you’ll be shooting down tend to be clones a lot of the time.

The effects and animations are also good, and some of the latter might make the game feel a bit out of the kiddie range. For example, the stabbing action is a bit much, but then again, it is a game.

To end, AntiSquad is a nice game all around. It looks good, the combat is nice despite the fact that some things don’t make a lot of sense.
