Airscape: The Fall of Gravity is a fun platformer in which you have to explore a strangely shaped world where the laws of physics seem to be confused. Your character is a cute octopus that has to make its way across a series of treacherous and misleading environments while also dodging hostile robots and other traps.
You’re going about your day doing what little octopuses do, mingling with fellow cephalopods in the deep sea, when out of nowhere, an alien machine starts to drill and consequently destroys part of your surroundings. As if that’s not already bad, an energy beam grabs you and starts pulling you away from that place called home. The beam color starts turning red and you know that whatever is going on, it won’t end well.
That’s how it all starts and after a few seconds of helplessness you find yourself stranded on dry land with nothing but a water helmet on your head and a lot of questions.
A really fun feature that Airscape: The Fall of Gravity brings into play is the possibility to completely rotate the environment to the point where up is down and left is right. In the first minute of the game this might be a bit confusing but once you get a handle on the otherwise simple controls, things start to get interesting.
In each level you have to find your way across the terrain in order to reach a teleportation pad that takes you to the next step of your journey. Along the way you’ll either have to jump across cliffs, sprint to dodge some angry looking robots, avoid being burnt to a crisp by lasers and much more.
The fact that you can change the perspective is really nice as it constantly tests your reflexes and map awareness. You get to jump from land into floating blobs of water to avoid obstacles only to find out that you stumble onto others. The game certainly keeps you on alert.
Airscape: The Fall of Gravity’s graphics make it very appealing for the younger audience but it’s also something you can relax with on a casual Saturday. After all, who doesn’t like a tiny octopus with a helmet on its head, running and jumping around.
