Multiplayer shooters never seem to go out of style and there is always something to keep the players occupied, whether it was Quake two decades ago or the latest Battlefield nowadays. Hence, it would appear that shooting each other is always going to be a fun thing to do with your friends, especially if there are multiple game modes and enough weapons to choose from.

Acrogorpon is your typical multiplayer FPS based on frags and deathmatch rounds, with graphics that should remind you of Counter-Strike and similar titles from that era. In essence, the game does not seem to bring any major improvement on the classic formula, which is why it can be a bit difficult to see its point, when you could easily just opt for the already established games instead.

The game allows you to enjoy a few different modes as well, not only the good old deathmatch. As such, Capture the Flag and Elimination are also available, both of which bring a bit of variety to the formula. Unfortunately, the gameplay is not polished enough to make the experience fun in either of the available mods, even if you are allowed to customize a variety of parameters for the server, including gravity, team damage and speed.

Before you join the match, you have the possibility to equip yourself with the desired weapons and accessories. As such, there are a couple of nice choices when it comes to your primary and secondary weapons, as well as a couple of pistols to try out. Grenades are included as well, both explosive and flashbangs. However, you can also gamble on either a bulletproof armor to increase your survival chances after getting shot, or a jetpack to help you move a bit quicker in some circumstances.

When it comes to the technical aspect, the game is not exactly state-of-the-art in the graphics department, but it doesn’t look awful either. Obviously, the visuals make the game look like it was released a decade ago, but that can be a good thing for those who want to relive a bit of the golden age. The models are pretty nice and the maps are quite detailed.

While Acrogorpon is certainly nothing to call home about, that doesn’t necessarily mean you cannot have a bit of fun with your friends over LAN. Hence, if you do not mind the old-school look and the sketchy gameplay mechanics, Acrogorpon can be a good solution for LAN parties.
