A Force Dynamic
Find your way across some rather difficult levels in this minimalistic ball platformer. #Sphere platformer #Ball platformer #Jumping game #Ball #Platformer #Jump
A Force Dynamic is a game with simple design and concept that’s actually kind of complicated. Your task is to jump from one platform to another using a ball until you reach a little portal which takes you to the next level. The catch is that some platforms move, others will kill you and making precise jumps is crucial.
A Force Dynamic comes with a relaxed design and without any kind of clutter. Most of the time you’ll just see the outlines of the rectangular platforms in an almost pitch black environment. It’s kind of relaxing and it gives the game a rather peaceful feeling.
To enhance that mood every time you jump or land on a pad different musical notes are played, which is a nice touch. Also, in terms of design that helps gameplay, pads look different according to their behaviour, those that move are blue, checkpoints are yellow and so on. It’s easy to figure out where you can land or jump to and what to stand clear of.
A Force Dynamic will hold your hand only for a short while because even the first level gets rather difficult towards the end. Jumping itself is easy to master and so is double-jumping, but what’s crucial is timing.
In this game successful jumps mostly rely on the time you bounce from one platform to another. You have a 360 degree camera which you can use to study your environment and there is no time limit so you can stand in one place for as long as you need until you feel confident about jumping. But even so, failing is something that will happen more often than you would like.
A Force Dynamic’s gameplay is not something new but its approach is different and it does look good. Gameplay is smooth and for a game of this sort, it actually has a pleasant atmosphere. It’s definitely worth trying out.
What's new in A Force Dynamic a2015.04.01 Alpha Build:
- A hotfix that enables the use of more controller types. Up until now, official Xbox controllers were unable to properly move diagonally. Now, they can. Anyone using a controller with a physically round analog stick that maps its axes to a virtual square can tick 'Diagonal Speed Adjust' to make movement smoother. If you tick that square, and you find that you can't move as quickly diagonally as you can straight forwards/backwards/side-to-side, untick the box.
