Keeping your reflexes sharp over the years is not an easy task if you are not constantly using them in your work or hobby. Thus, it’s important to keep practicing, preferably with the help of a fun activity like video games. On the other hand, not everyone has the patience or the will to pick up a first-person shooter, but there are other ways you can practice as well.

You Have 10 Seconds 2 is a puzzle-platformer where speed and lightning-fast reaction times are the most important elements, because everything else fades into the background when you have to quickly assess the situation and act before the time runs out. As it’s pretty obvious from the game’s name, this is a sequel, although it’s not at all important to play the first one in order to enjoy the second episode.

As such, this one starts with simple levels as well, at least until you get used to the mechanics. Each gimmick is presented separately, so that you have enough time to get used to it before you are asked to combine what you’ve learned in order to navigate much trickier stages. As always, the time limit is ten seconds for each level, so they are obviously kept pretty short.

There are all sorts of traps you have to watch out for, including spikes, arrows that slow you down or speed you up, as well as entire levels where the gravity is reversed. Sometimes all of these are combined into one, making it that much harder to move quickly and stay alive at the same time. Thankfully, at least the controls are responsive and accurate, so you won’t be able to blame them for your failures.

The graphics are about as basic as they can get in the genre, especially since there’s no attempt at any kind of artwork either. Everything is either gray or bathed in some kind of flashy colors, but it’s not a big issue when you consider the fact that you don’t have too much time at your disposal to admire the environment anyway.

In the end, You Have 10 Seconds 2 is just as fun as the first episode, but it doesn’t really change all that much either. On the other hand, it’s free and comes with quite a few levels, so there’s no downside to giving it a try.
