Time of Dragons

Dragons are a quintessential part of every fantasy world out there, and there are some stories entirely based on their power, intelligence and greed. However, there are also examples where they befriend humans and even fight on their side, although it happens pretty rarely. Now, you have the chance to ride them and make use of their power in battles against other players.

Time of Dragons is a multiplayer third-person shooter in which you are actually controlling a dragon, and you can fly around shooting other dragons with lasers and fire. It may sound silly, and it probably is in some regards, but the actual experience can be pretty engaging and fun, especially if you do not expect too much depth from the game. There are many reasons to keep playing and getting better at it.

One of them is the fact that your dragons can gain levels and become better, but only if you do well in battles and kill enough players. With higher levels, better skills and abilities are unlocked as well, making you a tad tougher every time. Each dragon starts with certain stats, which include health, speed and acceleration. Naturally, some can be better suited for head-on attacks, while others play better in supporting roles.

You don’t need to read any books in order to learn how to control the dragons, because the control scheme is pretty straightforward. On the other hand, it takes a while to get used to how each dragon responds to your input. Some move quicker and are able to keep up with the targets, while others are slow, but are capable of much higher damage.

Finally, the game is quite alright in the graphics department as well, especially when you consider the fact that this is an indie production with only a handful of members working on it. The dragons are nicely animated and the models are pretty detailed, yet there are still some glitches that need to be fixed in the future. Even so, the game is completely playable and enjoyable at this point.

Finally, while Time of Dragons could someday become a much better game, it needs more content for that to happen. Hence, the limited number of maps and game modes can cause players to become bored rather quickly, so it would be nice to see additions in the future.
