Time Clickers

Time Clickers is the kind of game you play while you’re playing another game. That’s true only after you spend about an hour with it first. Your initial goal is to fire a gun at floating cubes that give you gold after they are destroyed.

That goes on for a while until you get to hire more powerful guns that automatically shoot at the targets. After that point, in which you have others to do the shooting, Time Clickers turns into a kind of time management game in that you check up on it to see what upgrades you can buy and maybe enable the active abilities to defeat a boss.

Time Clickers is worse than a match-three game in the sense that you’re almost instantly hooked to it. After a few hundred clicks, you forget about what you were doing or what you have to do. You just stare at the screen while the guns shoot colorful cubes and watch as the gold pieces fly into your account.

This game plays itself after a while; it’s as simple as that. I’ve dealt with others of its kind. Clicker Heroes, for example, ran on my office computer for eight days. I had to uninstall it to free myself from the constant need to check up on it. I fear that time is upon me again with Time Clickers.

You can’t compare Time Clickers to The Talos Principle when it comes to the amount of thought you need to put into it. However, you do need to keep a sharp mind if you want to figure out how to upgrade so that damage and attack speed stack in the optimum way.

On a different note, Time Clickers is also that kind of game you play as a goof, and even so, it’s quite entertaining. Games that waste your time in a casual way will always have a place on our computers and in our workdays.

On a closing note, Time Clickers functions on a proven gameplay method that’s surely going to evolve along the way. It’s only been a couple of hours ‘playing’ Time Clickers, and I ask myself, do I get to upgrade the pistol to something else later on? It looks boring like this.
