Stormy Castle

Tower defense games gained massive popularity a few years ago and they are constantly getting better, thanks to all the new features that are being added. However, there is also a sub-genre that managed to make a name for itself as well, which is aptly called “tug-of-war.” In essence, the main idea is the same, except for the fact that you build units instead of towers to defend against the enemy waves.

Stormy Castle is what happens when you combine the two genres and make everything as colorful as possible, while still retaining some of the strategic depth. As such, your main goal in the game is to defend your castle gates from the enemy waves, while building your own units to counter them. However, you also have the possibility to place defensive towers at the gates and upgrade them as you wish.

To begin with, you can choose between multiple game modes, although not all of them are available from the get-go. As such, the normal mode is the perfect choice for beginners, because it also comes with a tutorial that gets you started with the basics. After that, you can also enjoy the boss mode, which adds more powerful units and generally increases the difficulty level by quite a lot.

Since you can build multiple buildings to produce units, you need to be careful what you spend your money on, otherwise you can end up with the wrong army. As such, warriors, wizards and archers are available, but they all behave better against certain foes. The production facilities can be upgraded as well, not to mention the fact that you can manually purchase additional units when you need them the most.

Magic spells can come in handy as well, although they do have rather high cooldown times. Fireballs are obviously useful when you need to deal with large concentrations of weak enemy units, while the teleportation spell allows your warriors to get to the enemy gate a lot quicker. Hence, you have all the elements needed to put a variety of strategies into practice.

All things considered, Stormy Castle is certainly a lot better than it might look at a glance, mostly because it has so many elements you can toy around with. Hence, if you want something fun to play and you do not mind having to think carefully about your strategies, this is certainly a good option.
