Space Invaders 2005

Space Invaders is one of the first examples you give when someone asks you what an arcade game is. Not only was it one of the first truly successful games of the genre, it also kept players addicted to getting the highest possible score, as should all arcade games do.

Space Invaders 2005 is a remake of the classic which is built to run on newer systems while still maintaining as much as the classic look and feel as possible.

Right off the bat, Space Invaders 2005 won’t come at you with any graphics that make you think that this is a game created just a decade back. It pretty much looks like the one released in 1978 but that is a voluntary decision from its developer.

You could wander around the Internet in search for an emulator which delivers the original but for a lot of people that seems like too much, or they simply just don’t get along with emulators. For this reason, you can enjoy this fairly accurate recreation of the original on just about any of today’s operating systems and hardware configurations.

In Space Invaders 2005, the same rules apply as in the 80’s version. You control a laser gun on a horizontal axis and you have to shoot the alien wave that is above you. As the game progresses, the aliens pick up speed until they reach the ground.

It’s your job to shoot each and every one down before they do because otherwise, it’s game over for you. After a wave if aliens is cleared, another takes its place and so on until you lose all your lives. Unless you can actually keep winning for eternity, which is highly unlikely.
