Slenderman's Shadow - 7th Street
Another chapter into the Slender series and this time you’re out of the woods and into a more familiar setup, a big city. This makes things a bit more interesting on a psychological level because most gamers live in cities, it’s where they grow up and develop a stronger sense of security opposed to a forest. Consequently, this triggers a more powerful reaction to fear.
Classic slender gameplay
Just in case you’ve never played the original Slenderman or any other of its numerous episodes, the goal of the game is to collect a number of 8 objects without getting caught by Slenderman and and killed.
It sounds simple enough but you move slow, your sprint time is limited, it takes a lot of time to catch your breath and most importantly, you have no idea where Slenderman is or from where he will pop up. In a lot of cases you’ll run into him just as you take a sudden turn to the right or he’ll be right there behind you when you turn around to check.
Your enemy has no pattern to follow so it’s practically impossible to dodge him the entire game and seemingly so is it to survive him as you get closer to ending the game.
Well designed scare maze
The city for Slenderman's Shadow - 7th Street is very well created. As you would expect, it still makes you feel like you are in a maze (because you actually are), the atmosphere is creepy most of the time and you never know what lies at the end of a dark alley.
There are moments when a used pattern or photo doesn’t really seem to fit in with everything else but you don’t really have time to stop and think about that because Slender might be right behind you.
A good scare for any time of the day
Slenderman's Shadow - 7th Street is a good addition to the series as it does spice things up a bit with the new environment, especially since it’s so easy to confuse a couple of wires in a dark corner with Slender, so you're bound to have a lot of scary surprises.
