SNIFF

Drugs are never the answer or a solution but in SNIFF they just might be. It’s a first person exploration stealth game in which you have to use drugs in order to escape a the hospital in where you are being kept.

In SNIFF things are simple. You are trapped, and you need to get out of where you are. You find a pill, you take and all of a sudden things get colorful, vision swirls and walking through doors is possible.

That’s one of the things you can do in SNIFF when taking a specific kind of drug. The other enables you to flip the world on its head so you can walk on the ceiling to avoid the doctors or to cross over otherwise impossible gaps.

It’s a game that uses an interesting concept to create gameplay that’s challenging and very confusing at times. Two reasons for which it’s also fun, and trippy.

The hospital you find yourself in has a maze structure with plenty of rooms, corridors, traps and there are several of medics on patrol. If one spots you, he will chase you down and put you back where you belong, which actually means the last checkpoint.

To make sure you don’t get caught, you can use the drugs to avoid them by either walking on the ceiling or by throwing them on the ground to create a toxic cloud. You have to be very careful about how you use them because drugs come in a limited amount so if you can stay hidden, do it.

SNIFF uses low-poly graphics that give it an appealing look, it plays smooth, and although mouse sensitivity is a bit off, the gameplay still feels right. The game is built for Ludum Dare 32 so drop by, vote if you liked it and who knows maybe it will grow into something more.
