People of Raccoon City turn into zombies and disaster hits
Jill Valentine is a former Special Tactics And Rescue Service operative who lives in Raccoon City, a city controlled by a very powerful corporation: Umbrella. The action takes place in September, 1998, when a strange mutating virus transforms half of the city's population into flesh eating monsters. The ones that did not transform immediately, are bitten and slowly become infected.
The police and the Umbrella forces could not stop the infection and the entire city has been overrun. Jill somehow escapes and takes refuge into an abandoned warehouse, but the zombies are still attacking so she needs to make her way to the only safe place around: the Police Station.
Slaying deadly monsters to stay alive
The game is played from a third person perspective and the player controls the character's movement by using the keyboard. Shooting is done in the direction that Jill is looking so turning means you will miss your target. The character will dodge, run and even turn 180 degrees if given the command.
As a role-playing influence, Jill is able to keep an inventory where she can store extra ammo, useful items like keys and cards and the cartridge reloading tool. This last item can also be used to create ammo. Keep your eyes open for gunpowder and grenades. Some puzzles exist and make a good addition to the game, as the player can take a break from all that shooting and gore.
Nemesis, the boss who doesn't die
Due to the fact that the game was created for Playstation, this PC port is not exactly friendly when it comes to controlling the character. Moving can be sluggish and lack accuracy. Shooting also requires a lot of work and aiming correctly can sometimes be done with a lot of difficulty.
The Nemesis is a type of experimental Tyrant that was programmed by the Umbrella Corporation to hunt down and kill Jill. Players will encounter this monster as a boss, but defeating him once is not enough, nemesis will keep showing up on several occasions and even follow the protagonist between scenes. While some fights are mandatory, you can sometimes choose to avoid the monster.
A shooter that will keep you hooked to the end
Even if the graphics don't match the standards of today's games, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is still a game that made some waves when it was released, some even called it the best game in the Resident Evil series. If you're looking for a blast from the past, this game is perfect.
