Raise The Dead

Every puzzle game features some kind of a challenge to keep the players engaged, but it’s not easy to create a smooth difficulty level that doesn’t discourage people from going on. On the other hand, the fun factor is important as well, because constant stress can be a bit too much even for a puzzle game. Colorful graphics help too, especially in the case of adventure games.

Raise The Dead is a first-person adventure game in which you have to deal with zombies by curing them and luring them into various machines. There are multiple weapon mods to switch between in order to interact with objects or the zombies themselves, and the ultimate goal is to find a permanent cure for the outbreak and synthesize a few potions to help you along.

To begin with, the most important part is to capture the zombies in order to perform the necessary tests, which is no easy thing, because they are still quite dangerous. Obviously, the best way to do this is to lure them by going near them, given the fact that they are not very smart. Your weapon can perform a variety of interesting actions as well, including teleporting dead bodies or moving them around.

As mentioned before, you can also use a variety of machinery throughout the levels in order to perform experiments on the poor zombies, although the ultimate goal is to make them well. It’s also possible to come up with potions by using the plants you can farm in the meantime. Speaking of which, the farming is quite enjoyable, but it needs some polish at this point.

Lastly, the graphics are actually very nice for an indie production, especially when you consider the character design and the animations. On the other hand, the environments can be a tad too barren sometimes, which does not help with the overall atmosphere. More content is going to be added in future versions, however, so it’s too soon to comment too much on this.

Even if it doesn’t look like it, Raise The Dead sits on a gold mine, especially in regards to the gameplay mechanics. Hence, if the developers manage to add enough content and make the experience feel exciting enough, this might just be a hit with the crowds.
