A player is never obliged to drop out of contention because they have insufficient funds to call the full amount of a bet. They may call for the amount of chips in front of them, known as calling "All-in". The excess part of the bet is either returned to the bettor or used to form a side pot with another player or players who matched the amount called.
There is no limitation on the number of side pots. In this regard internet poker rules do not differ from brick & mortar cardrooms.
Our former system of protecting hands during a connection problem affecting a single player has changed. This change was implemented due to overwhelming player requests, and in order to better protect the fairness and integrity of the games. When it is your turn to act in ANY real money game or tournament and you timeout by not acting within the allowable 40 seconds, regardless of your connection status, your hand will be FOLDED.
In a multi-table tournament, you'll be given more time to reconnect and when it expires, your think tank will engage if you have money invested in the pot. At expiry of time in the think tank, you will be folded, except in the case of the final table at which players will be given up to 240 seconds to re-establish connection prior to being folded.
In the event of a widespread internet routing problem, players may be granted an all-in to protect their hand. Note that this is only in the event of a connection problem that affects multiple players.
Paradise Poker has these rules in place to protect the integrity and fairness of the games for all players.
