Pacman: Nature Edition

If you are not familiar with pacman, you've been sleeping for 20 years so i'll tell you what it's all about. You play the character Pacman and you have to try and eat all the little dots on the level. To make this a little harder, ghostly type monsters have been employed to kill you and even though Pacman has a big mouth, you can't eat them.

However, by collecting little star things, you turn the monster weak and can eat them but they only remain weak for a limited amount of time. Also sometimes, bonus food appear so you can earn a few more points. This is the basic game of Pacman but the Nature edition changes a few things like graphics and more then one kind of enemy. I made this game back in 2002 when I first discovered Game Maker. I based this game largely on the Pacman example provided with Game Maker but did add a few new features and about 50 levels. The game is actually very difficult and some levels are amazingly challenging. You should find this game enjoyable and challenging especially if you're a Pacman fan. With this said, have fun...

Controls
Controls are very easy on Pacman. All you need is the arrow keys that move Pacman around.

Levels
The levels consist of enemies, walls, Pacman, dots that Pacman must eat, bonus items and enemy destroying items.

Enemies
There are four kinds of enemies and each have a different graphic and personality. They are:
Spider - This is the basic enemy, it goes as fast as Pacman and is effected by by the yellow thunderbolt for a small amount of time and the blue thunderbolt effects it for about double the time.
Croach - This enemy is a surprise enemy. It can be going half the speed of Pacman but then can suddenly go as fast as him. It is not effected by the yellow thunderbolt but he is effected by the blue thunderbolt for a short amount of time.
Bird - This enemy has no resistance to any thunderbolt but it's faster then Pacman.
Ghost - These are the ultimate enemy. No thunderbolt effects them and they are faster then Pacman.
When you crash into a monster, you go bact to your starting position and lose points.

Walls
All the walls are simply boundaries that keep you in the play area. There are three kinds of walls but they are all exactly the same apart from the graphics.

Bonus Items
There are 4 kinds of bonus items and they all give you more points. You simply crash into them to eat them. They are:
Apple - 150 points
Banana - 400 points
Cherries - 1000 points
Peach - 1500 points

Killing Enemies
All enemies can be destroyed except for the ghost but all other enemies can only be destroyed in one way which is divided into two steps.
1. Collect a thunderbolt. On most levels, there will be a thunderbolt of some sort either yellow or blue with blue being most powerful.
By collecting a thunderbolt, enimies who are effected turn into harmless and edible butterflies.
2. Once the enimies are butterflies, simply eat them by touching them. The enimies will not die but instead go back to the place they started. Although this may not sound very helpful, believe me, you will need the thunderbolts.

Hot Keys
esc = Quits the Game
F1 = Show help
L = Load game
S = Save game
R = Restart level
C = Enable Cheat Mode
X = 99 Lives (Must Be On Cheat Mode)
Z = Add 1000 points to your score (Must Be On Cheat Mode)
A = Next Level (Must Be On Cheat Mode)
C = Previous Level (Must Be On Cheat Mode)
enter/return = Pause
end = Main menu
