Nighttime Visitor
Escape from your office while being pursued by a strange visitor, with the help of your mobile phone, in this indie horror game. #Horror game #Hide and seek #Action game #Horror #Escape #Jump scare
Gruesome monsters don’t make a horror game scary, as it takes a lot more work to create an ever-present feeling of dread. The basic game mechanics and soundtrack need to be well refined to keep players on the edge of their seats, and the developers of Nighttime Visitor have certainly done a good job in this regard.
As you are starting the game, you receive a phone call from a regular-sounding bloke named Alex, who then proceeds to inform you that he is on the hunt, and you are his prey. Your goal is to escape the office building, but avoiding your pursuer is not that easy.
Alex will try to locate you using the sound of your ringing phone, so you should try to answer or reject his calls as quickly as possible. Of course, you can also try to figure out his location by calling him back.
Doors can be used to your advantage, as your visitor may be distracted by the knocking sound. It goes without saying that you shouldn’t stick around for too long.
Once you see your pursuer for the first time, you may be somewhat underwhelmed. Despite the model’s cartoonish design, however, you will likely jump out of your seat whenever he catches up with you.
Nighttime Visitor is not a particularly long game, as long as you do not make any mistakes. Given that you are unlikely to get everything right the first time, however, it may take an hour or more to finally escape the building.
This game offers an interesting take on the horror genre, as it relies on a gameplay mechanic that many similar titles do not take advantage of: using your mobile phone to locate your pursuer while he attempts to do the same.
Nighttime Visitor makes good use of this mechanic, and the sound effects are also on point. The graphics are not that impressive, and the antagonist’s visual design might not be to everyone’s tastes, but this is a fun indie game that horror fans should definitely try out.
