Mighty Retro Zero
A minimalistic game that accurately depicts just what a pixel graphics platformer is supposed to be. #Pixel art platformer #Adventure platformer #Classic platformer #Platformer #Action #Adventure
Mighty Retro Zero is one of the most retro games I’ve played in a long time. It’s so pixel graphics that you can count each one from a level in under 5 minutes. However, that was one of its selling points; that and the fact that it has eight colors. And chiptunes!
Or at least that’s what the developer says although I haven’t stumbled onto any of those. The game comes with three modes, History, Challenges and Retro Land (which is a total delight), all of them bringing to you a different way of playing the same character.
You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but you can judge Mighty Retro Zero by its looks. It wants to be low-rez, super retro and minimalistic, all in one. It’s part of its almost infinite charm. And by infinite charm I mean that while playing, you are always introduced to new gameplay mechanics or little features and decorations that make it a treat.
Also, I almost forgot to mention that the 6-pixel flowers sway when you run passed them. For such as small game, a lot of attention to detail went into it. How can you not appreciate that?
From a visual point of view, Mighty Retro Zero will trigger mixed feelings because not everyone likes this visual approach. If however you are looking for a relaxing game that can also make your blood boil, you have found it.
In History mode, Mighty Retro Zero is neat, easy to play with a good bunch of tricky moments to keep you awake. It’s a nice way of spending some time on your computer. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a blend of precision platformer, puzzle and intense arcade action, there are two more modes here that await you.
These provide some interesting takes on games such as Arkanoid, Pang and Bangai-O, all of which will give you a run for your money (the game is free and good).
For the retro-style game fans, Mighty Retro Zero is one to add to the collection. It has loads of content for how small it is, and it’s one of the most fun things you can play right now.
