I’m not even sure you can find a sequence of words that make sense when put together in an attempt to describe what Memory of a Broken Dimension is. It’s confusing, beautiful, daunting, scary, broken, eerie, calming...it’s a lot of things.
For those who enjoy perspective puzzle games or any kind of creations that stretch the limits of how you perceive space and interaction, Memory of a Broken Dimension is marvelous. It’s a concept that will drag you out of your comfort zone and leave you in a static-covered darkness.
In the game, you enter an emulation of a world, a virtual reality that has been broken down, fragmented into a mangled mess of unanswered questions. You’re just left there to find a way out or a path to the source of it all. Either way, it will be a confusing journey through something that’s eerie and maybe even claustrophobic.
At its core, Memory of a Broken Dimension is a perspective puzzle game. That means that while playing, you will have to constantly change your point of perspective in regard to one or more objects until you align them to form something else.
In Memory of a Broken Dimension however, you don’t just walk around at will until you guess what you have to do. Here, if you step out of uncertain boundaries, the world around you breaks down into static, and it’s very easy to get lost.
You have to explore a series of rooms that are interconnected but not in the logical way you would expect. Walking through some walls ensure you get trapped in a temporal and spatial loop that goes through infinity while in other cases you have to discover subtle guidelines that help.
Memory of a Broken Dimension is something really special. Not only does it feature a very interesting way of presenting and interacting with the world around, it also comes with excellent audio. It’s close to being a soundscape all on its own and at times, it gets so intense that you might mistake it for a horror game.
To end, please be aware that Memory of a Broken Dimension, in the form that is provided through this page, is a prototype of the game to come. You can get a better view of how the game will look like by watching the trailer.
