Being the first to explore an abandoned settlement is always fascinating, as you are left to imagine what could have happened to its inhabitants, and how long they have been gone.
Living With The Moonoliths is a first-person game that puts you in the shoes of a lunar explorer walking through a landscape littered with old, megalithic structures. Your goal is to find a total of forty hidden objects, but the most important thing is to relax and enjoy the scenery.
No explanations are offered when it comes to your purpose or the settlement’s history, so you have to figure things out as you go along. The structures all around you are certainly impressive, and it is clear that the area has seen a lot of activity in the past.
There are not a lot of sound effects to enjoy, which makes sense given that you are on the Moon. However, you can head the faint sound of your footsteps, as well as the eerie background music.
Aside from just relaxing, you also need to find the green orbs that are scattered around the area. They are not particularly difficult to spot, but some of them are hidden quite well around or within the structures.
The character moves about as quickly as you can expect someone to walk while wearing a space suit, although you can speed him up a bit by pressing the Shift key.
The walking speed may discourage you from trying to find every single hidden orb, but there is a small reward waiting for you if you manage to complete the challenge.
Living With The Moonoliths is likely to receive a polarized reception from players, as they will either love its visual design or dislike it for its simplistic gameplay. It could certainly use some more work, but you should still try it out if you are a fan of exploration games, especially if you find space to be particularly fascinating.
