Lemma Demo
Explore a voxel-based world and make use of your parkour experience to gain access to a variety of amazing places. #Parkour Game #Wall Ride #First-person Parkour #Parkour #FPS #Acrobatics
Parkour may be a relatively new sport, but it attracted a lot of attention in a very short time span, and it spawned many responses from the entertainment industry. Thus, games like Mirror’s Edge brought the sport to the public’s attention and it did so in a very positive manner, because the sport proves to be useful for much more than just fooling around the city.
Lemma is not as relatable as Mirror’s Edge was, but it’s not far from it when it comes to the underlying concept. On the other hand, exploration is a much more attractive prospect in the game at hand, because the world is open and inviting, unlike the restricted - albeit beautiful - city seen in Mirror’s Edge. Hence, the similarities are there, but the scope and the atmosphere are entirely different.
There is even a story going on in the background, which is relayed through notes and text messages. It may not make too much sense in the demo, but there are multiple characters taking part in the action, and the world itself is an important piece of the puzzle as well. However, your primary purpose is to keep running and collect a variety of orbs, which is how you’ll spend most of your gameplay time.
Just like in any other freerunning-inspired video game, you can do much more than just run and jump, because some obstacles require a bit more finesse. As such, you can also climb walls, run on walls, and even construct new walls to gain access to previously inaccessible areas. The mechanics blend together seamlessly and the entire experience is just one smooth adventure from one end to the other, excepting the countless deaths and falls you'll undoubtedly suffer, of course.
The game’s technical aspects are worthy of praise as well, because everything runs exceedingly well, especially when you consider the size of the world. Not only that, but the environments are voxel-based and they do wonders for the atmosphere, especially if you find weird shapes to be exciting. The visual quality of the graphics engine is top-notch too, with support for full-HD resolutions and quite the neat array of post-processing effects.
When it’s all said and done, Lemma’s greatest feat is the fact that you are free to basically explore and try to conquer every part of the world in front of you. Some places may not be accessible, some may require a combination of skill and luck to get to, but it’s nice to know that the possibility is always there.
