Although there are new technological breakthroughs in medicine almost every day, yet there still are things that seem to be out of control at the moment. As an example, it would appear that our antibiotics are starting to lose their ability to fight off various infections, which is not at all good news. On the other hand, we may be able to find a different approach in the future.
InCell VR is part racing and part adventure game, although the gameplay is designed to be a lot more exciting when a virtual reality headset is used. As such, it’s all about immersing yourself in the atmosphere and believing that you are actually in someone’s body, fighting disease from a cell’s point of view. Unfortunately, the experience is rather short, since there are only a handful of levels to choose from.
The goal is to move as quickly as possible and outrun the virus, while also increasing your score by collecting all sorts of power-ups. It's also important to avoid the red obstacles to avoid being slowed down. It sounds more complicated than it actually is, since your actual goal during the levels is to tilt your head in order to control the direction of your character and avoid any obstacles that might slow you down.
The goal is to reach the nucleus before the virus does, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. You also have to make sure that the path you choose from one area to the other is the correct one, although there are not that many choices to begin with. This does increase the game’s replayability, on the other hand, so at least you get more game time out of the gimmick.
As far as the graphics are concerned, everything looks and feels immense, even if you are actually looking at tiny cells inside a human’s body. Obviously, the experience was designed for VR devices, so it won’t feel as mesmerizing on a regular monitor. However, the graphics engine is powerful enough to render a lot of detail, so it looks gorgeous no matter how you choose to play the game.
All things considered, InCell VR can certainly get make you feel dizzy after a few minutes, especially if you try very hard to avoid the obstacles. It looks gorgeous if you have a VR set handy.
