Flakboy 2 is one of those games that’s mildly on the fence between being funny and a bit harsh. In this game, you have to inflict as much pain as possible to Flakboy, a cute and innocent test subject.
A sandbox sci-fi torture game
Flakboy 2 is all about using your brainpower to hurt and damage as much as you can. The downside is that the critter you have to hurt is living blue alien, so the presence of cruelty is real, even if it’s in the virtual world.
It would have been a lot simpler if you had to blast, shoot and impale a potato or a washing machine instead of the harmless alien. On the other hand, you wouldn’t flinch as much if you did damage to an inanimate object, as humans, we’re easily touched when something that’s alive gets hurt.
Good or bad, you still have to use your wits to group a series of traps in a way that does the most amount of harm possible, within a given budget, of course. The game has several levels, and game modes and each new one comes with fresh weapons and gadgets so you won’t get bored.
You’d think hurting an alien would be easy, but it’s not
Flakboy 2 seems like a simple game, but it’s surprisingly difficult. A lot of the time, it’s easy to figure out what to use and where to place it because you will always aim to create a chain of traps that trigger in a dominoes effect.
The tough part will be getting that extra bit of damage to pass a level, and fine-tuning trap positions generally does the trick. However, at times, you’ll have to re-think your design entirely.
It takes brains to be a successful bad guy
To end, Flakboy 2 is fun. The goal of the game might not be the most popular or acceptable, but it does make work for a win, and that’s good.
