Epic Clicker Journey

The clicker genre is a pretty new invention in the world of video games, probably because everything else has been attempted by now. Naturally, clicker games are not to designed to change your perception about life and the universe, but they can be pretty addictive, and you can usually enjoy them anywhere.

Epic Clicker Journey is pretty much what you expect it to be when you read its name, but there are a couple of interesting concepts at play that might just get you hooked. For starters, it doesn’t seem to have an idle mode yet, which means that you really have to play it in order to get somewhere. However, really having to play a clicker game is not as exciting as it sounds, especially since things get repetitive in the span of a few minutes.

Other nice gimmicks include the possibility to customize your character’s stats and abilities, which is not something you usually see in clicker games. Thus, you can increase your damage, defense and luck with gold, as well as level up and spend points in a few other stats. It’s not a world-shattering improvement, but it’s better than switching characters like in most other games in the genre.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be fun to kill monsters without ransacking their corpses of valuable items, and Epic Clicker Journey provides you with an extensive collection of items to choose from. Some of them provide you with bonuses against certain monsters, and they come in handy when things get tough on the battlefield. Speaking of which, you can actually lose all hit points and die, although that just means you have to wait until they replenish and try the level again.

The graphics are very pleasant and colorful, and it’s nice that there are so many different backgrounds and locations to visit, because it doesn’t get as repetitive. Still, don’t expect anything too flashy either, otherwise you’ll be quite disappointed. There are also microtransactions to watch out for, although they do not really affect the gameplay very much.

When it’s all said and done, Epic Clicker Journey is a bit better in some regards than other clicker games, but it’s still a clicker game at the end of the day. Thus, it can only remain engaging over short stretches of time.
