Dungeonland is a whimsical and very laid back game that throws you into the colorful world of the Dungeon Maestro to battle all sorts of strange monsters. It’s a co-op hack and slash in which you and two other players fight alongside each other for glory, gold, fame and more gold.

In Dungeonland, you get to play on both sides, the good and the bad. When it comes to the first, you are able to choose from one of the three heroes, warrior, rogue or mage and enter the dungeons. On the other hand, you can be the dungeon master and spawn critters and minions that might be able to defeat the heroes. It’s a nice twist that has its charm and opens up the gameplay a bit more than other similar games do.

When it comes to the heroes, they’re a bit one sided but being able to purchase new items and perks with the gold you earn in the game is a good thing. For a hack and slash, it runs well but the amount of action you get is a bit linear. The gameplay would become very tedious if the enemies and characters weren’t so colorful and amusing.

Dungeonland has sheep. Big fluffy sheep that you can pick up and throw around as they make funny noises. Also, you can kill the sheep but be careful because some explode or conjure fire pits, but some give you food or health regen.

This online hack and slash is definitely fun, there’s no doubt about that, but it has a few issues to get passed. For one, the online games are few in number and if you’re rocking an old PC, it might not go well, and lag can be an issue, causing you to die a lot more than you would want.

For a hack and slash, Dungeonland has its ducks in order. It features simple and captivating gameplay; the combat is deceitfully intense for how harmless it looks and it’s fun. It really is.
