Curse Of Mermos
Help Abdu uncover the secrets of Pharaoh Ebo's tomb after fighting a couple of hundred monsters. #Hack and slash #Adventure game #Uncover tomb secret #Adventure #Action #Pharaoh
Meet Abdu, a fearless adventurer who sets off to uncover the mystery of Pharaoh Ebo’s tomb. Equipped with the Hammer of Horus and the Crossbow of Neith, he feels quite confident that nothing can stand in his way, but he’s kind of wrong.
In all honesty Curse of Mermos didn’t seem all that appealing at first. It’s graphics are good, the audio is pleasant, the controls are accessible and easy to master but somehow it lacked that initial charm that we all look for. However, the game turns into a pleasant surprise because that feeling quickly dissipates after three waves of monsters.
Curse of Mermos transforms into a fast-paced hack and slash that totally has you mashing buttons and having fun while fighting large scarabs, skeleton archers and other undead servants. Little Abdu can use both melee and ranged combat, he can strafe out of danger and can really handle just about anything you throw at him if you move quickly enough.
In terms of difficulty, although it might sound a bit over the top, per minutes played, Curse of Mermos offered more challenges in combat than four times the time spend with Diablo III. Monsters spawn all around you, there are more and more with each wave and your hero is quite fragile. Dodging, shooting and planning your next evasive moves are very important and it’s dynamic combat system totally keeps you connected to the action.
Curse of Mermos has a bit of a story to go along with the action. It revolves around how Pharaoh Ebo was betrayed and how you must now help him escape the curse he is under. Since you do your best to fight for his freedom, in return, he teaches you how to better yourself as a warrior.
Each creature you kill releases a number of souls which you can collect and offer to a shrine as currency. That way you can increase your health, weapon damage, speed and so on. Curse of Mermos comes with a nicely designed Glyph system that also helps you improve your skills.
Curse of Mermos is the result of work carried out by a group of students who have managed to focus on quality to deliver a well balanced game. It’s fairly short but every moment of it is enjoyable.
