Combat Monsters is a card game that also implements turn-based strategy and carries its action on a hex board where all kinds of monsters and warriors fight to the death. It’s a game that tends to merge multiple genres and does its best to offer you a complete experience.

For those who have played digital collectible card games or anything that revolves around that area, Combat Monsters is a game that is really easy to learn. It’s simple in design and mechanics but by implementing the hex board, it challenges the player to not only think ahead about what cards to use, but also where to place his fighters on the battlefield.

This aspect makes strategy equally important as the cards you have in your possession and enables you to devise more complex strategies and surprise your adversary in new ways. A nice thing about Combat Monsters is the 3D animated representations of the cards which makes the battles much more entertaining and connect you to the battle in a better way.

In terms of content, Combat Monsters has a lot to offer. You can have hundreds of cards and you can group them into custom decks that fit perfectly with different play styles. Cards are separated into classes, they can summon warriors, enchant them with special abilities or wreak havoc on your enemies.

Items can also be crafted in Combat Monsters, enabling you to equip your hero with some pretty powerful weapons that can change the tides of any battle. There is one problem though. Combat Monsters has been ported from the mobile version to PC and fits the profile for pay to win games. For example, the ‘Card Forge’ feature is available only for paying customers.

Each battle rewards you with a number of rubicoins and after a while you can purchase new cards using in-game currency. However, that still doesn’t eliminate the fact that someone can spend a couple of bucks to get the high-end gear and ruin the experience for those who can’t or don’t see it fit to spend money to become OP in ten minutes.

The fact that Combat Monsters is cross-platform and can be accessed from your mobile is a good thing. Whenever you want to pass some time and enjoy yourself, you can log in and do so.

As a whole, Combat Monsters is not a bad game. Its graphics are nice, effects are decent, gameplay is easy and battles can be really challenging at times.
