Claiming Xodius
Embark on a quest through Sunnland, a place that's strange and familiar at the same time. #Adventure RPG #Role playing game #Craft item #RPG #Craft #Monster
Claiming Xodius is a role-playing game that starts off rather simple and keeps that way until it surprises you by having considerable more depth than you expected. It’s about you, wondering through Sunnland in order to find the Xodius, a mighty tool that is capable of unknown but great posers.
Claiming Xodius is very vivid, up to the point where you might consider that this game will be a walk in the park. Initially it is. Controls are simple, interactions are a snap and a lot of it is pretty much self-explanatory in terms of gameplay, considering you’re familiar with RPGs.
What you don’t really expect from Claiming Xodius is for it to have a detailed inventory system, item crafting and some pretty tough monsters to fight. It’s one that starts off harmless but after a few minutes of wondering around chopping foliage, you encounter your first boss and after he takes you down in a couple of seconds, you get ambitious. It turns into a tough little RPG that’s pretty fun to play.
One thing you need to do is stack up on apples, they heal. In Claiming Xodius you can go near an apple tree and try your luck in finding some fruit. It’s a really nice mechanic to the game that reduces the frustration of not having enough currency to purchase healing potions. You can even pause the game to eat some apples in order to restore health, but this is on the fence with being a good or bad idea.
Along with its retro looks, Claiming Xodius comes with matching gameplay. Your keyboard is everything that’s needed to explore, fight and craft. When it comes to the second, at times combat seems a bit strange since there is no dodging mechanic and at times it really feels like you’re taking an unfair amount of damage.
However, that’s not a dealbreaker. Claiming Xodius has plenty of things to keep you connected to it and it gets more interesting as you play.
On a closing note, Claiming Xodius is far from perfect and you’ll eventually turn off the audio because that one piece of soundtrack will get to you. But if you’re looking for a casual RPG experience that’s tough and easy to play, this one is a very good choice.
