Sci-fi stories gamble a lot on their ability to help the people truly imagine themselves as part of the universe in question, regardless of whether it features robots, aliens, or anything in between. Granted, it’s not easy to come up with a believable and interesting story when you have to juggle with outlandish concepts, but then again it depends on how open minded your audience is.

Blossoms Bloom Brightest is an interactive visual novel that puts you in the middle of a mysterious spaceship with two other strangers. Since this is not a kinetic novel, you sometimes get to choose where the plot is headed, although you shouldn’t expect too many dialog lines or anything of the sort. Even so, at least you can reach multiple endings depending on what you choose along the way.

It all begins when three girls wake up on a strange spaceship called Blossom, with no real explanation as to why. Whether they want it or not, the ship is on a journey, and it’s not going to stop no matter what. Things get pretty hairy along the way, on the other hand, which is why the three girls must make a few decisions that decide their fate.

As mentioned before, the game features multiple endings, and it depends on what you choose to do in key moments throughout the story. Do not expect a very complex range of possibilities, however, because this visual novel is not about changing your perspective on life. Even so, it’s nice to know that you can re-play the experience and get different results.

The graphics are designed to be pretty mild, given the fact that they are not particularly impressive or striking. The backgrounds always seem rather dull and simple, which does not really help with the atmosphere. Things are better in terms of character design, although some of their outfits do not appear to go hand-in-hand with the mood and the setting.

In the end, Blossoms Bloom Brightest may not be as complex as some might want, but it can change your day for the better if you give it a chance. The multiple endings allow you to easily enjoy the experience more than once.
