Fashion is a touchy subject with most people, because everyone seems to be having a certain preference when it comes to clothes and what to wear. Colors, shapes, and a million other things seem to be affecting the way you look in certain clothes, which is why some have declared themselves experts on the subject and have started to dictate how other people should make their bodies look, depending on the situation, time of the day, genre etc.

Black Laces is a simple dress up game dedicated to children who enjoy dressing people up in a variety of clothes, which is basically all of them. However, instead of dealing with actual tiny clothes littered all over the house and the dangers of scissors, they can satisfy their curiosity in a virtual environment and quickly find that there are only so many ways you can have fun with a piece of linen.

There doesn’t seem to be a general theme to the game, and no information is given about the lady you dress and undress so many times. Her wardrobe is quite spacious and it includes what appear to be extremely pricey items, such as fancy dresses and quite the expensive-looking handbags. Hats and various other accessories are available as well, in case you really want to get down and dirty with the science of fashion.

One of the slightly more advanced options you can find in the game is the layering system, which actually means that each item you put on the lady can be easily removed without having to touch the other clothes. Thus, it makes your job a lot easier and non-repetitive, but it also means that you get even less gameplay time in exchange for your effort.

As far as the technical aspect is concerned, the graphics look quite decent and every clothing item is actually pretty detailed. There are no animations, unfortunately, which means that you only get to pick the clothes up and place them on the character, with nothing else in between. When you are satisfied with the result, you can simply press a button and see the girl pose outside of her dressing room.

In the end, while Black Laces certainly looks nice and it can appeal to young children, there is just not enough content to keep anyone busy for more than a few minutes. Hence, after the players try out every piece of clothing, which doesn’t take that much anyway, there is nothing left to do.
