This is a new challange... The original Bezerk was renowned for its quite chilling voice samples and frantic maze-based gameplay. Thankfully Shanon's rendition in DarkBASIC retains this same atmosphere.
All of the chilling voices are in there - everything from 'humanoid detected' to the rather fateful 'destroy the human'! The game sees you controlling a poor chap lost on a space station, the robots have gone haywire and are after his head and you must run, shoot and evade in order to escape (if you can).
Linger for too long and the evil Orto makes an appearence - in which case you need to basically run as fast as possible in the opposite direction. Here's a trivia fact for you - in the original arcade version the speech was created via LPC coding which cost $1000 per word to compress! (1980).
Here are some key features of "Bezerker":
· The graphics are good, the electrified walls and explosions look great
· The sounds instill a sense of paranoia
· It's quite a challenge!
