Bamberman Retro description
Bamberman is a remake of the HudsonSoft classic Bomberman in which various players are trapped in a maze.
Before we start I'd just like to point out the poor chap who's face was used for the main character in the game (and who the game is named after!) is none other than Lee Bamber, the author of DarkBASIC. Can you believe it?!
Now that's out of the way onto the game itself. Bamberman is a remake of the HudsonSoft classic Bomberman in which various players are trapped in a maze and must blow their way out and then blow each other up!
The first thing that strikes you about
Bamberman is the sheer professionalism in the presentation and execution of the game. It just 'works' you know, menus link together properly, screens scroll smoothly, the characters are controlable, etc. This game is so close to commercial-release quality it's frightening!
Here are some key features of "Bamberman Retro":
· It's a damned fun game to play! The characters are cute and respond perfectly to your controls even with four of you huddled around the PC!
· Four player option is insane :) and very good fun
· Graphically it's excellent
· The music is great too and the spot sound effects fit in well
· The two game modes provide a bit of variety, see if you can last the full time on bomb-drop mode!
· The game is polished until it can shine no more
· The power-ups are pretty destructive :) Combine some extra bombs with fire-range and you've got a deadly combination
