The Xbox One is aiming to become an entertainment center even as it appeals to core gamers, and a major new application added to the platform is the new TuneIn Radio, which is designed to offer gamers a simple way of streaming more than 100,000 real-world radio stations.

Users of the console will be able to snap the app to the side of the screen in order to hear content as they play or do anything else on the Microsoft device.

The official announcement adds, "As a logged-in TuneIn user, you can access the content you followed from your other TuneIn-ready devices, or add more great content you love to your TuneIn account. As you follow more content, your home screen in the Xbox One app will display beautiful tiles to reflect your tastes and listening to history."

The TuneIn Radio app for the Xbox One also supports the use of the Kinect motion tracking system for voice commands.

Microsoft has been saying that it is encouraging developers to develop applications to add more variety to the types of content gamers can enjoy.

Rumors are also suggesting that, soon after the launch of Windows 10 on the PC, the company will offer a new way of getting apps to the Xbox One without applying the extensive certification process that it is using now.
