Microsoft is at the moment deploying a new firmware update for the Xbox One home console, which is apparently designed to prepare the major changes that are coming to the user experience later in the year and does not add actual new features right now.

The label for the update is 6.2.13326.0, also known on the official support site as xb_rel_1508 13326.0.150810-2029.

Gamers will be prompted to download it and should do so as soon as they are able even if there are no new features for them to use.

Microsoft adds, "The Xbox team is hard at work building and fine tuning the new Xbox One user experience that will be unveiled to the preview community this Fall. This update will help us to get your console ready to receive the new experience."

The major tweaks are linked to the launch of Windows 10 on the PC, and the company is working hard to make sure that it creates a linked gaming ecosystem between the two devices.

Reports from Japan are saying that right now Sony is working on a major new firmware update for the PlayStation 4, labeled 3.0.

It is designed to introduce new options to stream content to YouTube and to upload clips directly to Twitter, and there are also other changes made to the menus and the community elements of the home console.
