Video game developer Blizzard is announcing that it is planning to bring back the TeSPA Collegiate Hearthstone Championship, which is designed to attract more gamers with an increased prize pool and a new format for the actual competition.

The company says that gamers will be able to get a share of the 100,000 dollar (90,000 Euro) prize pool that will be used to fund their college education.

For the first time, the tournament will have a format in which teams of three student players will need to play a single deck at the same time, with members able to talk about the plays that they want to implement.

The TeSPA Collegiate Hearthstone Championship will start on September 28, with nine weeks of regular season matches, and in January of next year, the teams that perform well will take part in the finals.

Blizzard has recently launched the Grand Tournament expansion for the card game, which introduces a wide range of new cards, some of them using an entirely new power.

The tournament is a good way to attract players to the competitive side of Hearthstone, and the studio has previously run a competition linked to colleges for the Heroes of the Storm experience.

The card game has become an important revenue stream for Blizzard, and the next expansion will probably be focused on the delivery of more content based on a raid from World of Warcraft.
