The team at Sony in charge of the PlayStation Network is announcing that it is taking the service down for maintenance for around two hours on Monday, August 17, in order to improve some unspecified aspects of the experience.

The period will start at 9:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time and will end after 11 PM, while for those in Europe the maintenance will be active from 4:30 PM British Standard Time to 6 AM on Tuesday, August 18.

The official announcement explains, "You will not be able to access Account Management, PlayStation Video, or complete a purchase in the PlayStation Store during this maintenance. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Gamers who have logged into PlayStation Network before the maintenance period starts will still be able to enjoy multiplayer matches during the period.

Sony has not offered clear information on the changes that it is planning to make to the service.

The PlayStation Network has been very important for the current sales success of the PlayStation 4 and the company needs to make sure that it remains stable as more functionality is added for it and that the security level means that attacks cannot allow hackers to get access to the personal information of the users.
