No Man’s Sky is one of the video games that players have been impressed ever since it was first shown during E3 but the development team at Hello Games has never offered an extensive look at the core gameplay mechanics of the title.

Now IGN has an 18-minute long clip that allows all those interested to take a look at the main activities and details core features like exploration, flying, scanning and combat.

Sean Murray offers running commentary and, despite the claims of the company, the 18 minutes are actually interrupted by some shots of the people watching the game being played.

No Man’s Sky promises a complex and procedurally generated universe that will feature more planets that gamers will be able to explore in their lifetime.

Those who pick up the title will be able to move across the sky, mine resources and scan planets as they seek to find new ways to move towards the center of the galaxy.

Uploading info to a central Atlas will be at the core of the experience and Sentinels are also patrolling space, taking out those players who drain too much of the resources of one planet.

No Man’s Sky will be playable on both the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the PC and does not yet have a launch window.
