The team at Nintendo in change of the Amiibo line of figures is announcing that it plans to restock in the coming weeks some of the rarest items from its extensive line-up, although it has not offered any clear dates yet.

The information comes from the official Twitter account of the Nintendo of America division, which explains that the targeted characters are Little Mac, Greninja, Shulk, Lucario, Captain Falcon and Fox.

Nintendo has big long-term plans for the Amiibo line, associating them with each of the titles that it launches for the Wii U.

There are plenty of collectors who tend to pick up all of the figurines even if they do not actively use them in their video games or seek out a particular character because they feel a connection with it.

The toy and video game segment is a growing one and Amiibos are facing competition from the likes of Skylanders from Activision, LEGO Dimensions from Warner Bros. and Disney Infinity, which just launched its third wave with a focus on Star Wars.

Nintendo might be disappointed with the performance of the Wii U home console, especially when compared to that of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but it's very likely that its figurines will also be featured for the next hardware platform it is working on, the mysterious NX.
