Gamers can get refunds from stores if they pre-ordered

Video game developer Rocksteady and publisher Warner Bros. are announcing that the development process for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X has been canceled, and there are no plans to release any version of the title for those platforms.

The official forum thread about the decision states, "Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game.  We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned."

Gamers who have placed a pre-order for Mortal Kombat X on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 will be able to go to the store where they bought the game from in order to get a full refund.

Understandably, a lot of gamers who have not upgraded to the modern consoles from Microsoft ad Sony are unhappy with the announcement.

Most major publishers have been trying to deliver both current- and last-gen versions of their AAA titles, but often the full set of features for them cannot be offered on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 because of limitations linked to hardware.

Mortal Kombat X is running fine on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 and has already received a wide range of extra content.
