Microsoft has just kicked off its #Windows10devices press conference with an impressive demonstration of the HoloLens augmented reality headset. This time around, the corporation showcased a novel Project Xray title that provided a mixed reality gaming experience.

Lots of gamers and tech enthusiasts were surprised to see the Microsoft HoloLens device, which went into the augmented reality direction, instead of virtual reality like the Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.

At E3 2015, the corporation revealed just what Minecraft might look like with the HoloLens.

Now, during the ongoing #Windows10devicese press event, Microsoft brought forth another demonstration of its device, this time with a new mixed reality gaming experience called Project Xray.

You can see in the screenshots we captured below that the HoloLens can help provide a pretty interesting experience not only for the player but also for the viewer. You can interact with the holograms and use them in your hand.

Microsoft didn't just show off its HoloLens at the conference, but it also confirmed that it would accept registrations for the upcoming HoloLens development program. Companies and individuals interested in owning the development version of the device will be able to buy it for a pretty hefty $3,000 (around €2,670) starting in early 2016.

Expect to see and hear much more about the Microsoft HoloLens in the following months, as more developers get to make experiences for the innovative device.
