The development team at Traveller's Tales and publisher Warner Bors. are aiming to make the upcoming LEGO Dimensions a veritable mash-up of varied major intellectual properties, and one of the most interesting for gamers will be the level based on Valve's Portal title.

A new video from IGN features Doug Heder, the producer working on the experience, talking about the way gamers will be able to explore the environment and the kinds of secrets they will be able to discover.

The Portal level in LEGO Dimensions will feature nine test chambers, all of them modeled on the original title, and a boss fight.

It seems that the game will allow players to explore all the challenges using the other characters that are part of the Starter Pack, Batman, Wyldstyle and Gandalf.

Gamers who like the Portal experience will be able to get more test chambers in a separate level pack that can be bought separately.

The toy pad will be used extensively in the experience and gamers can explore a narrative built around Chell, although no details about it have been offered.

Gamers will also be able to explore levels based on Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, The Simpsons, Back to the Future, Jurassic World, DC Comics, and more.

LEGO Dimensions arrives on September 27 on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the Wii U, and older consoles.
