Gamers can get an exclusive skin in the event

The development team at Riot Games announced last week that it was taking Captain Gangplank out of the hero list for League of Legends, making him unplayable, but it seems that the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena genre is following the rules of comics and the team is bringing him back this week.

The official announcement states, "The orchestrated spectacle of the Dead Pool’s destruction led many to believe that the dread reaver Gangplank perished in the flames. But what is dread may never die, and Gangplank returns to reclaim what he believes to be rightfully his."

Captain Gangplank continues to be central to League of Legends until August 10, when the Bilgewater: Burning Tides event ends and everything associated with it will be taken out of the MOBA.

Gamers can get a special skin that shows the pirate character as he looked before the most recent changes linked to the narrative, if they play at least one matchmade game as him.

It's unclear whether Riot Games is planning to introduce more similar events in the near future, temporarily taking characters out of the roster in order to make some changes to them and to encourage the community to use them in order to get exclusive rewards.
