Just Cause 3 developer Avalanche Studios has just released a brand new video in its Dev Diary series, this time focusing on arguably the most important aspect of the open-world sandbox game - its destruction system.

Just Cause games have delighted millions of gamers from all over the world throughout the years thanks not only to their tongue-in-cheek nature and their huge worlds but also through the insane amounts of destruction possible in their environments.

For Just Cause 3, Avalanche Studios is taking things even further and wants to deliver more ways to blow things up, as well as new mechanics to further aid said destruction.

In the second Dev Diary video, which you can admire below, the studio's team discusses just how it developed the destruction system, going through several iterations, and then how it had to carefully tinker with the open world.

From making a modular bridge that can be destroyed in all sorts of ways to implementing hinges on vehicles in order to show partial destruction or realistic dismemberment, plenty of interesting aspects are explained in the video.

Just Cause 3 is set to launch on December 1, worldwide, across the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. The studio and publisher Square Enix are already running a special contest for those who pre-order the game, giving the winner a real-life island.
